Short Capsule: The quarterback position is the big question mark going into spring practice. The stability of Robert Marve, Aaron Murray and Phillip Ely is no more and now the work begins to find the next Panther signal caller to get the flame burning. While the competition for the gunslinger will be hot and heavy, so will the competition for the running back. The last few seasons, Plant has become a more balanced offense under Phillip Ely, allow the Panthers to strike on the ground the air. Paris Bostic should enter spring listed as the starting running back and his coaches are very high on his ability. Panthers must address QB concern and find out how good the combination of Paris Bostic and Wesley Bullock will be in order to jump start the Gold and Black offense for 2011.

“Saying Goodbye” (graduation or transfer):
Phillip Ely, QB
James Wilder Jr, RB
Tony Posada, OL
Eric Patterson, CB
Matt Suarez, LB

“Hello Again” (key returners or potential Impact Players):
Antonio Crawford, WR/DB, 2012
Drew Madhu, S, 2012
Austin Aikens, WR, 2012
Paris Bostic, RB/S, 2012
Nathan Shienle, OL, 2012
Mike Tate, LB, 2012

“Coach Speak”: “Our team is very young but talented. We are excited! We may not be great at the beginning but we will get better everyday.”

“Fun Fact”: In the last three seasons, the Panther have only allowed the competition to score an average of 11.4 points per game; giving up 502 total points in 44 games.

“Must Have”:
• Solid offensive line play
• Replace production from departing middle linebacker Matt Suarez
• Young players must contribute and make an impact early for a team graduating such playmakers

“Uh-oh”: Can’t afford to lose the balance on offense which they had in 2010.
