Pugh’s View: The Packers are THEE front-runner in this district and in my opinion it’s not even close. NOW, that’s not saying there could be injuries and other hiccups along the way, but it’s going to take something catastrophic to keep the Packers out of the postseason. You can probably make the case that they’re a year away too, which doesn’t bode well for opponents if Coach Rick Rod and his boys decide to make the next two years a moot point as far as naming your district champion.

Must Have: Offensive/Defensive Line consistency.  Juwan Brown and/or Derrick Doss stay healthy. This team is good, but as evidenced last year, they can be exposed without their core playmakers on the field. They also open the season at Bradenton Southeast. A tough, but premier match-up on the first weekend of the season. They start fast, go ahead and pencil them in for the 3rd and 4th weeks of November at the least.

Uh-Oh: The Packers must make sure there is no drop off from the departure of defensive coordinator Matt Lepain to Palm Harbor University. If predictions hold true to form, the regular season will be an audition for either Armwood, Jefferson, or Hillsborough in the 1st & 2nd Rounds of the playoffs.
