Short Capsule: The G-Men are excited and have some tools in the toolbox to make for a very successful season. Josh Scarberry as been the staple of the Gaither defense for the last few years. Gaither needs to continue to allow Scarberry to roam and simply make plays. The offensive success will go as Shug goes. Shug Oyegunle, Gaither 2013 QB, is a very athletic player who throws a better ball than expected. Oyegunle threw for over 1400 yards last season, but also had 13 interceptions to his credit. If Scarberry can rally the troops on defense and Oyegunle can cut down on the turnovers, Gaither Cowboys have a chance to be the law in Northwest Hillsborough County.

“Coach Speak”: “Starting to build winning habits and attitude. We will see if our hard work in the off-season can translate into toughness when the pads come on…” ~ Jason Stokes

“Fun Fact”: Gaither High excels in many different extra curricular activities. Band and Orchestra happen to be a few. Many of the football players, who Coach Stokes is counting on for the spring and fall season, double as Band or Orchestra members.

“Must Have”:
• Leadership and Mental Toughness
• Strong defensive line play to keep Scarberry and crew free to make tackles
• Attention to details in regards to scheme and adjustments

“Uh-oh”: QB, Shug Oyegunle can not throw double digit interceptions and can not throw more interceptions than touchdown passes this season.
