Pugh’s View: The Falcons lose their biggest playmakers from last season, but they also return a ton of potential playmakers with a year of experience under their belt. They’re going to need it with an 8-game district schedule, but the Anthony Diviney to Domenic James connection statistically could end up being one of the most successful in the district and the county under new HC Max Smith. There’s definitely a new attitude and if they get some of the newer guys (that have some pretty good size to them) to pan out along with getting a few key ingredients eligible, then that 2-win last year will be considered an anomaly. It’s a big IF, but if these things happen, the Falcons will double that win total at the very least.

Must Have: Protection for Diviney. The Falcons OL plain and simple needs to be the MVP’s each week. The chief playmaker is Diviney with his arm or feet and he needs slightly more time than he had last season. The Falcons have a strong turnout this spring and that momentum needs to carry throughout the summer and into the fall.

Uh-Oh: I would say the obvious is if anything injury-wise happens to Diviney would be the biggest problem. But again, it starts up front. If the OL that I saw practicing these last couple of weeks with their size starts gelling, this could be a phoenix rising from the ashes story up on Pinehurst.
