Rumblin’ in Ruskin: Lennard LB Josh Anderson

This Longhorn from Ruskin is about as mean and nasty as they come at the middle linebackers position. What makes this 6-foot-1, 261-pound wrecking ball so lethal is that he possesses the speed and change of direction of an outside linebacker or strong safety. Last season, Anderson appeared in nine games for Lennard, racking up 75 tackles, (54 solo with two of them for losses) along with 2 sacks and 2 hurries and an interception. Anderson played an instrumental part in Lennard’s eye-opening 7-3 season in arguably the state’s toughest district and looks to continue to be the leader of the Longhorns on defense come this Fall. Anderson is as strong as one of those steers you see in those pastures on the way out to Ruskin benching nearly 300-pounds. That strength shows when he blows up defenders while maintaining excellent body control. Anderson shows his MILB instincts when he sorts through the trash then takes on defenders at the point of attack with bad intentions. Anderson’s technique on tackles then takes stage as nearly all the time when he hits them, defenders fall right where they were greeted. Another valuable aspect to Anderson and his repertoire is his ability to open his hips and get his feet moving in conjunction to provide excellent pass coverage. Anderson is a member of the Class of 2016 and is the #34-ranked player overall in BCP’s 2015 Spring Fire 79.
