RECRUITING

Recruiting mailbag: Tarpon, undersized and Leston

John: Tarpon has a lot of good players why does none of them have offers?

BCP: So does 500 other schools in the state of Florida. You must open your eyes outside of the school you follow (Tarpon) and understand that those players are competing for scholarships with thousands of other kids and if you have not seen the talent level of the “other” kids, it would be hard to understand why Tarpon players have few to no offers.

Roy: have you had a chance to see the QB from Clearwater soph Jordan Leston Had 3 td’s throwing over 200 yds passing. And another 100 yds rushing and 2 td’s in a upset of Northeast?

BCP: Yes we have

Brandon: If I play WR & IM 5’8 & 120lbs do you think I’m too small to go D1? Im only in the 9th grade. Does it matter what high school team you play for to get recognized and recruited?

BCP:
1) You would not be the prototypical size of a D1 receiver. BUT, that does not mean a D1 school will not be interested in your talents, IF talented enough. You also may hit a growth spurt. Always exceptions to the rule. Google: Ace Sanders, South Carolina

2) It does not matter as much, what high school you go to. With the technology and useful recruiting services like ourselves and Sunshine preps, colleges are made aware of prospects no matter where they play.
