POSITION TOUR: DEFENSIVE LINE

As we slowly make our way to the season, we’ll start to share some new names we have discovered over the last six months. Today we’ll drop players who can set and mess up a whole offensive game plan by themselves: The Defensive Linemen.

Chris Davis, Armwood 2021 DE/OLB 6-3/210-220: When does Armwood not have multiple studs on the defensive linemen? Answer = Never! Here goes another really good defensive end; Aggressive. Active hands and a Great motor. An excellent complement to Florida defensive tackle commit Desmond Watson.

Matthew Myles, Tampa Bay Tech 2021 OLB/DE 6-1/225-235: BCP camper we got a good look at in our camp circuit and then was able to confirm with the film. Explosive off the ball, violent hands, and great motor. 14 TFLS and 6.5 sacks in 2019. Count on him to make an even bigger impact in 2020.

Carson Moore, Jefferson 2021 DE 6-3/230-240: Watch the film. he might have the best initial quicks of all the defensive linemen in the 813 area code. He has an unreal take-off. Unreal Change of direction. Speed off the edge. He is a problem. Some resemblance of former Jefferson DE stud Tyriq McCord.

Henry Hughes, Tampa Bay Tech 2021 DE 6-6/215-225: Great length, athletic, and uses hands well. Even more, he has a frame to add weight. Tampa Bay Tech has consistently produced a top-notched defense with top-notch players. We introduce you to Mr. Hughes.

Thomas Puhek, Wiregrass Ranch 2023 DL/TE 6-2/235-245: We have seen him pulling vehicle during the offseason. We have seen him grow and increase his agility during the summer months. Now we wait on him to dominate during the season. Thomas has a good lean, good bend, and good potential to be a massive kid. Keep an eye on this Bull.

Baraka Andrews, Tampa Catholic 2023 DT 6-1/265-275: Just south of 30 tackles along with 3 sacks as a freshman. And he’s just a baby. An athletic big man in the middle with a mean streak. Tampa Catholic is very athletic and primed to have “That Special” season. Watch how this young man grows in the program and is a driving force a great year for the Crusaders.

Jordan Renaud, Palmetto 2023 DL 6-5/275-285: Great burst. Plays with leverage. High motor.

James Kavouklis, Berkeley Prep 2022 DL 6-2/225-235: Explosive. Violent Hands. High motor.

Andre Morris, Jesuit (Tampa) 2023 DL 6-2/260-270: Run stuffer that gets after it.
