Plant’s run of 4 State Titles in 6 years is outstanding and stands amongst Florida High School Football best 6 year periods.

Let’s take a look at the most impressive 6 year runs for State Title Winning Schools.

North Florida Christian (Tallahassee) has won 7 overall State Titles including 2A in 2011 and won 5 State Titles in 6 years from 1996-2001 {1996 (2A), 1998 (2A), 1999 (A), 2000 (A), 2001 (A)}.

Pahokee has won 6 overall State Titles with the last one in 2B in 2008 and won 5 State Titles in 6 years from 2003-2008 {2003 (2B), 2004 (2B), 2006 (2B), 2007 (2B), 2008 (2B)}.

Bolles (Jacksonville) has won the most State Titles in Florida history, 11, including in 4A in 2011 and won 4 State Titles in a 6 year period twice from 2004-2009 and from 2006-2011 {2004 (3A), 2006 (2A), 2008 (2A), 2009 (2B), 2011 (4A)}.

University Christian (Jacksonville) has won 6 overall State Titles with the last one in 1A in 1994 and won 4 State Titles in 6 years from 1989-1994 {1989 (A), 1991 (A), 1992 (A), 1994 (A)}.

Coral Gables has won 4 overall State Titles with the last one in 2A in 1968 and won 4 State Titles in 6 years from 1963-1968 {1963 (2A), 1964 (2A), 1967 (2A), 1968 (2A)}.  Note: 2A was the highest classification in Florida all of those 6 years (in most of that era, there were 3 classifications only in FL: 2A, 1A, 1B).

Suwannee (Live Oak) has won 4 overall State Titles with the last one in 3A in 1990 and won these 4 State Titles in 4 straight years from 1987-1990 {1987 (3A), 1988 (3A), 1989 (3A), 1990 (3A)}.

Plant (Tampa) has won 4 overall State Titles and has won 4 State Titles in 6 years {2006 (4A), 2008 (4A), 2009 (5A), 2011 (8A)}.

Only Bolles (Jacksonville) and Plant (Tampa) have won 4 State Titles in the last 6 years and if they win State Titles in 2012 they would tie North Florida Christian (Tallahassee) and Pahokee for Florida teams that have won 5 State Titles in any 7 year period (NFC and Pahokee actually accomplishing it in 6 years).

Two current teams have a shot at joining the above schools with 4 titles in 6 years or less. Cocoa which won State Titles in 2008 (3A), 2009 (2A), 2010 (2A) could join this group by winning a State Title in either 2012 or 2013. Additionally, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) which won State Titles in 2007 (5A), 2008 (5A), 2010 (5A) and could join this elite list of schools by winning a state title in 2012.
