Chamberlian hires from out of county

After 2 months of interviewing, deliberating and more interviewing, Chamberlain administration is expected announce D.J. Mayo as their new head varsity football coach.  Nearly 20 applicants submitted their resume’ for the job after former head football coach, Joe Severino retired.  The Chiefs have not recovered from the retirement of long time Chief head coach and Legend, Billy Turner when the Chiefs were 11-2 (2008) in Turner’s final season and won just 4 games in the last 3 season under Severino. 

Port Orange Atlantic offensive coordinator D.J. Mayo has no previous head coaching experience. Under Mayo, the Port Orange Atlantic offense averaged 326 yards last season and advanced to the Class 5A playoffs. Chamberlain will officially announce Mayo as their new head coach today sometime around 1-2 p.m. He will be introduced to the players during 7th period.
