Patriots will move on without Blount

The Freedom Patriots will again be looking for another head coach. After just 2 seasons, Tchecoy Blunt is out as the head football coach at Freedom High School. Blount was a member of the 7-3, James Harrell coaching staff (2009) and selected as the head coach over numerous applicants in 2010. In his 2 year stint, Blount posted a 6-14 record, missed the post season both years and did not defeat area rival Wharton.

Of the 10 seasons Freedom has been playing a varsity schedule, there have been 6 different head coaches. Only 1 has spent more than 2 seasons as the head coach. Adam Stegeman, was the Patriot head man in 2004-2005 and the first 3 games of the 2006 season. Stegeman, Marquel Blackwell and Blount all were fired or asked to resign.

Freedom has yet to find consistency in the football program. 3 winning seasons in the programs 10 year existence, just 2 playoff appearances and averaging just 3.5 wins per year. Freedom becomes the 7th Hillsborough County head football coaching job available this year (others: Blake, Chamberlain, Lennard, Riverview, Brandon, Strawberry Crest).
