Paris Bostick has made a verbal commitment to the University of Georgia. A special day for a special young man who has grown into a tremendous football player and even stronger person.

On the outside, you may see a 6-2/210lbs athlete who can run, jump, cover, tackle and make plays. The #2 rated safety in Tampa Bay behind Armwood’s Leon McQuay. However, Bostick has had to overcome some big trials in his young life which have made him an even strong person and player today.

Robert Weiner, Plant head football coach had a big smile on his face when talking about Paris. Without printing details, coach Weiner had this to say, “Paris is someone we have seen grow throughout the years as a football player. From a kid you just saw with raw ability to a kid kind of scary at the safety position. Would make six or seven good plays and one or two boneheaded plays. Anybody who knows football, knows that is not a good ratio when you play safety because two boneheaded plays are big plays.”

He was not always the perfect kid or perfect player. He had every excuse to go down the wrong path. But he listened to people who had his best interest at heart and became a person the Plant coaches started to trust. “Where he really developed, into is a guy day in and day out, play in and play out, comes to work and is going to make those plays now. He really is a guy who has stepped up and is becoming the quarterback of the defense,” said Robert Weiner.

How did Bostick decide on Georgia? “Last year we were able to get Paris up to Georgia on a little swing we took to Georgia and Georgia Tech with Paris, Antonio [Crawford], Austin Roberts and Wesley [Bullock] and I know Paris really got a good feel for Georgia last year when he went up there. This year he went up and got to do the camp again. It played out really well. I think he stayed with Ramik (Ramik Wilson, UGA 2012 signee) from Jefferson and got the inside scoop from there and met with the coaches the next day.” Plant players are not foreign to UGA. “Our lineage at Georgia, our kids have a real good feel for that place. Of course, Aaron [Murray] and Orson [Charles] come back all the time and talk about it. I think it is a really great fit for Paris,” stated Robert Weiner.

The battle is not over for Bostick. Good things have happened and today starts the walk down a wider path for the rising senior. Before he heads to UGA, he and his Plant Panthers will chase another state title. In the care of his Plant family, Bostick will surely thrive and Coach Weiner believes the same will happen at Georgia. “I think there is a really good group of coaches there that will really, really care for him as a football player and a young man. At this point in his life, I think that is something that he needs and he will be in great shape there.”
