The offensive tackle’s primary job is to block: to physically keep defenders away from the offensive player with the football. A good offensive tackles has great feet and is surprisingly athletic. They power their blocks with quick steps and maneuverability. The tackles are responsible for outside protection. The majority of the time, they are depended on to protect the passer from getting pressured by the best pass rusher on the opposing team. Life for a ball carrier is tough without solid offensive tackles.
As hard as this was, we ranked the Top OFFENSIVE TACKLES in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco County (Disclaimer: we have not even touched the surface of Pasco County talent). These rankings will be evaluated again in the summer as opinions change and other players surface. The rankings are based on skill, talent, basically…who we think will be the tops OTs of the 2012 season. Our evaluations are based on film review, Ignite Showcase performance, combines and practice observations.
