MONDAY MIXTURE: STARTING TO TALK NSD

ON THE CALENDAR
National Signing Day is Wednesday. The anticipation may not be the same as years past due to the impact of early signing day in December. Nonetheless, this is still an opportunity for high school football players to celebrate moving on to continue their football career at the next level. National Signing Day has traditionally been the first Wednesday in February annually. Scholarship athletes sign their National Letter Of Intent and make their pledge official.

NLI
Signing a National Letter of Intent (NLI) is contract between the college and athlete to hold both accountable to their commitment to each other. The athlete is promising to end the recruiting process with every other school. He now commits to that institution for one year and the college is guaranteeing a one-year scholarship to the athlete. The NLI is intended to limit or end the recruiting pressure but it is not a requirement to earning an athletic scholarship.
