Michael Johnson “unofficially verbally” commits to FSU

Mike Johnson, Countryside

In a matter of days, Florida State picks up their second Tampa Bay commitment. This time from Countryside 2014 CB, Mike Johnson. According to our partners at BHSN, Johnson will not “officially verbally” commit till next week at the Jimbo Fisher Camp.  In an earlier conversation with Johnson, he expressed that FSU showed an extreme “want” for his services, “I loved the academics and the situation I could be walking into.  There is an opportunity for me to play right away on special teams and be in he mix on the depth chart.”

Last Wednesday, Tampa Catholic 2014 OT, Corey Martinez verbally committed to FSU while participating at The Opening in Oregon and vowed to be a recruiting tool for the Noles.  Did Martinez early commitment effect Johnson’s?  Maybe, Maybe not, but we do know that Michael will attempt to get more locals to pledge to FSU Country.

Johnson is our 4th best CB prospect and 26th best prospect overall in the class of 2014.  He will be a three year starter for the Cougars and holds verbal offers from Arizona, Georgia State, East Carolina, Middle Tennessee, Rutgers, Virginia, Texas Tech, Florida State, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Indiana, UCF, Cincinnati, Ohio, Cincinnati, Purdue, USF and Iowa State.

Johnson chose FSU over Central Florida and Louisville who he says he was highly interested in and the decision between the three schools was a tough one.
