Mic’d Up: 2020 Venice TE Garrett French Sharpening Skills In The Lab

Venice, June 30, 2019- We’re opening up your Sunday with sound bites from student-athlete (I’d say a 4.5 GPA makes the ‘scholar’ cut) and rising senior tight end, Garrett French. The Indians in the green and white gave big class 7A contenders a valiant run for their money, as 2018 regional champions; going 12-2 overall and 5-0 in their district 11 standings of six teams. The season before last (2017)? On the pinnacle of sunshine state football, as State Champions.

For 6’3″ 225-pounds, it’s easily observed Garrett is pretty nimble and acrobatic in traffic on film and during drills on camp day early this month. French consistently keeps his legs churning down after down, whether it be in his blocking assignments or the run after the catch- he just knows where his reliable contributions are needed at any given time. With these attributes at his expense, he made a notable first impression in five games played per MaxPreps data, collecting 100 receiving yards on a mere six catches, averaging 18.3 YPG, adding two TD’s and a two-point conversion to Venices’ scoreboard this past season.
