RECRUITING SPRING CAPSULES THE BOX

Leto Falcons beginning to take flight

A new year brings a new look to another Bay Area team. Falcons head coach Matt Kitchie and staff bring a high tempo, organized practice to a Blake team who will look to turn things around in 2012. The Falcons are receptive to the coaching staff and are learning new techniques.

Andre Simpson, 2013, RB
5-11/196
A legitimate BCS prospect Simpson is flying completely under the radar. He has the strength and frame to run the ball between the tackles, which he showcased last year, but in the new offense Simpson will have the opportunity to get the ball outside the tackle box and in space. Don’t be surprised if he touches the ball 25-plus times per game.

Luycchi Jansen, 2013, LB/FB
Jansen is a good looking prospect. He was hobbled throughout practice, but refused to sit out a snap. Around 5-10 190 Jansen looks to have some upside. He’ll play in the middle of the defense and be a key factor in slowing down rushing attacks as the Falcons have a relatively undersized defensive line.

Jonathan Dublin, 2013, RB/WR
After Simpson, Dublin will be the next play maker. Dublin lined up mostly as a WR during practice where he showed flashes of his, reported, 4.5 speed. Dublin was able to get separation at practice and had good hands.

Adner Grajales, 2013, QB/DB
Expected to be a WR, Grajales has lined up under center this spring with the lack of depth and a true No. 1 at the position. Grajales has a long ways to go, but he is picking up the offense. He is athletic and will force defenses to have to account for him.

Darien Gilbertson, DB/WR
A transfer from Land O’ Lakes, coaches expect Gilbertson to be a vital part of the Falcons resurgence.
