POLK COUNTY RECRUITING SPRING CAPSULES

Lakeland Christian: More Vikings on the ship than expected

Kenny Storey, Lakeland Christian LB

On surface, Lakeland Christian is a team still trying to nudge their way in the Elite circle of Polk County teams. QB Christian Alexander and RB TJ Simmons headline a team with more prospects than expected. Remember, “On the surface.” Beneath the top two prospects, others are scratching for deserving notoriety.

ATH Keland White stood out yesterday while observing practice. White is a transfer from Winter Haven where he was very productive prior to a leg injury mid-season. White provides the backfield and WR crew with more speed and versatility. Very long, standing around 6-0 foot and fast. RB BJ Sirmon comes over from Mulberry. Dude is lightning in a bottle. Along side of TJ Simmons, Sirmon is going to be a handful. Smaller, shiftier back that provides LCS offensive staff plenty of options to apply pressure on the defense.

WR Larenz Deshazor is going to have a monster season. Already Christian Alexander’s favorite receiver, the rising sophomore has good hands, runs good routes and excellent acceleration. He has really developed his body and will continue to grow. Standing around 6-0 foot now, Deshazor will be a promising prospect.

While I was at practice, it was an offensive emphasis. However, while on scout defense Kenny Storey looked the part. The senior backer showed some explosiveness in RB drills and dropped well during 7 on 7 versus the starting offense.
