Knights and Herd grab studs from Central and South Florida

Maurice Hall, Gibbs

BCP spotlight on a few commitments

As young kids prepare to strap on their helmets and pads for the 2013 season, take a moment to see what D1 talent looks like on film as we review two players today that are currently committed to the UCF Knights and the Marshall Thundering Herd.

Maurice Hall has been on the local radar for quite some time. Making big time plays on the field even as a freshman and sophomore. As Maurice heads into his senior season, he is committed to becoming a UCF Knight and made a big time statement in his Spring game for what UCF will be getting in terms of a football player. Young players and parents, please use these videos as reference points and a measuring stick for what D1 talent looks like.

Maurice not only made the big time plays that are easy to spot on film, but also focused on the small parts of the game that are often overlooked. Lined up at wideout, Maurice’s motor never stopped as he was determined to beat the DB in front of him, NOT ONLY in the passing game, but by becoming an effective blocker. Again, often times these are small things that big time players often overlook but not Maurice Hall.

Need a play on kick coverage? No problem, Maurice will gun down the field. In addition to the small things, he plays with a great deal of energy and you can usually find him on defense by following the ball. Where the ball goes, you can usually find #3 closing in. From the OLB spot, you can also see Maurice excel in pass coverage. Again, things that may go unnoticed at first but really come in to view in film review. Today we bring you a look at Maurice Hall in action during his spring game. Congrats to UCF as they are getting one heck of a player!

Now we take a trip south of the Tampa Bay area for a stop at LaBelle High School. Off the beaten track, this high school program is not known for producing a ton of top level talent. Best known for the kicking of the Gramatica brothers at the high school level, LaBelle is turning out one heck of a lineman prospect for the 2014 class. You young lineman pay attention to the effort given by Josh Rimes in this Spring video. Watch as Josh plays with a mean streak and finishes plays. Strong and stout, Josh puts a great deal of focus in the weight room and it is evident when he steps on the field on Friday night. His transition to the field on Saturday should be great news for the Marshall Thundering Herd as there is a good chance Josh will become a big time talent for their program.
