Playing Hillsborough, Jefferson, Armwood, TBT and Sickles week in and week out, year in and year out, a coaching staff should pick up a few things here and there. The players attitudes should improve and become a mentally stronger team. It’s no longer, “Can we win” but, “Let’s find a way to win.”
If the colors were stripped from their helemts and uniforms, one would think King was a consitent playoff team. The practice tempo was high. The time management was great. The cumminication between players and coaches was refreshing. Every player was getting coached. From the best players to the junior varsity kids just learning how to practice as a high school football player. Each drill performed was for a purpose. The kids bounced around from drill to drill, knowing what was expected of them. No coach was over coaching another and head coach, Alvin Davis allowed his assistants to do their job.
PLAYERS
Donnell Taylor, 2014 ATH – Smooth runner and attractive football frame. Caught the ball well out the backfield and showed great footwork in individual drills.
Dennis Meyer, 2013 OG – He is big. Powerful initial punch and good hand placement
Reggie Butler, 2013 DT – May be the biggest sleeper of them all. Really good quickness. Moves well laterally and can change direction. 6-3/260lbs and not sloppy at all. Awesome first step and has a few really good moves.
Kim Jackson, 2013 TE – Caught the ball well and ran good routes. 6-2 frame will be helpful when King is running the football.
Kenyatta Young, 2013 QB – Has taken a few bullets, but had a good day at practice. Threw some sharp passess that were on the money. At times, passes were too strong for receives. He showed good footwork during back and cone drills.
