Justus Reed jumps out late in 2012, early in 2013

Justus Reed, Clearwater Central Catholic

At the conclusion of the 2012 season, Justus Reed was just being introduced to the recruiting world. College coaches were starting to take notice to an extremely under recruited prospect. It’s a whole different world now. Currently a University of Florida verbal commit, Reed is the best defensive end in our area and has started the season with a bang!

Mid season, 2012 a Clearwater assistant coach (prior to Reed transferring to Clearwater Central Catholic)  gave us a heads up, “You have to come see Justus Reed. Best DE in the area!” At that time, he was some what correct. Jordan Sherit, Hillsborough DE was out for the remainder of the season. Countryside DE, Mike Love was playing well, but not like he did his junior season. Then there was Justus Reed playing for a school struggling to total wins and not attracting a bunch of recruiting attention.

Fast forward to the end of the 2012 season. That same assistant coach gathered all the Clearwater games, sent them to Sunshine Preps and the rest is history. With BCP and SSP promotion, Justus Reed took off. He began to get offers from everywhere. Even childhood favorite, Florida Gators. The Gators identified Reed early as a prospect who could be a real impact player on their defense in years to come. Because the Gators turned over a few cold stones, they plucked the top defensive ends in the 2013 and 2014 class from our coverage area (Jordan Sherit 2013 and Justus Reed 2014).

This year, Reed has all eyes on him. His abilities will not surprise anyone. Especially if this 3 star prospect (rating by major networks) stands out on film like this.
