PASCO COUNTY

Jump start: PASCO COUNTY

Nate Craig, Pasco 2016 WR:S

PLAYER OF THE YEAR candidates
Nate Craig-Myers, Pasco WR 2016 6-2 200 is the easy and safe pick. Why pick against a player who possesses the skill set to dominate any defender he may see this season. Depending on the defensive schemes he may see (likely his fair share of double teams) and number of times he touches the ball this year, at the very least, Craig is a 1,000 yard all purpose player. He has the potential to be a 1,000 receiver.

Malik Johns, Pasco slot 2014 5-11 170 could be Nate Craig-Myers direct competition and they are teammates. Johns will touch the football in every way Janarion Grant did last season. He will be all over the field and make an impact on all three sides of the ball. Potential to put up big numbers in 2013.

Willie Barrett, Anclote RB 2014 5-9 205 solid pick! If last season is any indication of how this season will go…Look Out! Expect Anclote to feed Barrett the ball as much as he can handle it. The more successful Willie is, the better chance the Sharks have at being a playoff team. 1,300 rushing yards is an attainable goal for Willie this season.

Davion Sutton, Fivay RB 2014 5-10 185 can go and if you not had the pleasure of seeing him play, you are missing out. The best pure running back in Pasco? That can be argued, but it’s a good pick. Sutton will rival Barrett for Pasco rushing champ this year.

JUMP START PLAYERS (will start the season with a bang)
Eric Bennett, Wesley Chapel DE/OLB 2014 6-0 211 transferred from East Bay this offseason and the Wildcats are hungry to see him against another color jersey. Don’t be surprised if Bennett is not near double digit sacks and TFLs at midseason.

Christian Trididad, Mitchell RB 2014 5-11 165 started 2012 with a bang and will do the same this year. If the season goes in the Mustang’s favor, Ricky is likely to be the County leading rusher at game 5.

TOP 3 TEAMS
1 Pasco – Until a Pasco County team beats them on the field, The Pirates are still the top dog. Have not lost to a Pasco County opponent since 2007.

2 Sunlake – 2010 9-1 (8-2), 2011 10-2 and 2012 8-2 under Bill Browning. Seahawks are better than the credit given. Will hit a rough patch inserting some new players at key positions. But should gel around midseason to make the playoff push.

3 Zephyrhills – The gamble pick, especially with Fivay and Anclote climbing the ladder. Bulldogs return a lot of play-makers on both sides of the ball. Reggie Roberts has improved each year since being the head coach. Let’s see if the Bulldogs prove us correct.

2015 SOLID PROSPECTS
Jaye Miner, Wiregrass Ranch OLB 2015 6-3 195 – Rangy, athletic and nimble
Quintan Foster, Zephyrhills DT 2015 5-10 350 – Strong lower body, quick hands and active
Jaylen Pickett, Zephyrhills ATH 2015 5-11 160 – Versatile, athletic and physical

STILL NEED TO BE EVALUATED – could be really good
Bowman Archibald, Pasco DE 2015 6-5 210
Andrew Ivie, Pasco DT 2015 6-3 260
Loren Parker, Zephyrhills ILB 2015 5-10 190

THE UNKNOWN
John Harris-Scott, Wiregrass Ranch RB 2014 5-10 170 be the dark horse of the RBs this year? Can he be a 1k rusher.  Talent is there, will he have the assistance of a good offensive line and productive pass game?

What will Gulf do? 2-8 in 2011, 0-10 in 2012.

What will Hudson do. 3 win improvement under first year head coach, Mark Kantor.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN
– James Pensyl, Land O’Lakes QB 2015 6-5 202 will make some noise for Land O’ Lakes this year. The 6-5 junior will run the show this year. Expect a big season.

– Wiregrass Ranch will not go winless as they did in 2012. New head coach, new attitude and solid foundation.

– Sunlake will be a 7 win team at the least. Quietly one of the most successful teams in BCP Area in the last 3 seasons (27-5 since 2010).

– Anclote vs Fivay will not see 72 total points as it did last year. Both team better defensively.
