Is Clearwater Central Catholic as good as their numbers say? Lets take a look. 4 games into the 2014 season for the Mauraders, the offense has posted 2918 total yards. That’s good enough for top 20 in the state according to Max Preps. Best game: Trinity Catholic (Ocala, FL) last Friday when the red and yellow tacked on 631 total yards of offense. Of the 4 games they have played this season, CCC has not posted less than 400 yards of offense in each contest.

John Davis has been pretty balanced. Though they lean on the run a little more, currently they are running the ball 69 percent of the time. 149 total rushes this season and over 230 rushing yards each game. Versus Jesuit game 3, CCC finished the game with 397 total rushing yards and averaged 12.8 yards per carry on 31 attempts. 867 total yards rushing; leading rusher is QB Jeff Smith who has 510 yards on the ground and sophomore RB CJ Cotman has 356 yards. CCC has 11 players with at least one carry on the season.

Through the air, 1184 is the magic number so far. Jeff Smith is the leading passer with 833 yards and has been pretty good with a .66 completion percentage. 9 different players have caught a pass this season. John Brunner leads the team in receptions (20) and receiving yards (222). Prior to last Friday’s Trinity Catholic game, CCC averaged 157 yards per game via the pass. They exploded last Friday versus Trinity for 397 pass yards and 4 TDs.

CCC is currently ranked as the 5th best team in the BCP Sweet 16. Marauders have a deadly run attack and productive pass attack and the numbers prove how lethal the offense is, scoring 40.5 points a game.

Expect CCC to continue piling up the numbers this week as they travel to St. Petersburg Catholic. Barons are 0-3, scored 7 points this season and have allowed 44 points per game to opponents.
