Ask yourself, “Self, if presented with the opportunity, would you rather make a game changing interception or a momentum swinging, jaw dropping hit?” Answers may vary. But for Robinson 2014 safety, Brandon Peters, he would rather make the INT.
Funny that was his answer because each time we saw Robinson play this past season, he was making big hits. Making us and the crowd go “OUCH”! Peters, the team affectionately calls “Long Hair, Don’t Care” posted 65 total tackles and 3 INTs for the semi final Robinson Knights. He was a force in the middle of the field for the defense. Setting the tone early and often with big hits and solid tackles.
Early February, Peters and teammates competed in the 2013 BCP/BHSN Ignite Elite Showcase. Testing their agility, skill, and speed. Peters came away as the safety MVP showing that he was more than just a tackling machine. He was also a second team All BCP safety selection this past season and along with University of Georgia signee, Paris Bostick.
“Long Hair” gave us a minute of his time to get in his head. Here is what we asked and how he answered.
BCP: What was the best play you made this year?
PETERS: The best play I made this year was my 75yd pick six [interception returned for a touchdown] vs. Jesuit. Just when I caught the ball, the energy the ball gave me to turn and take it to the house, was one of the best feelings this year ………
BCP: Would you rather make the big hit of big INT?
PETERS: I would rather make a INT than a big hit so the ball can come back to our offense.
BCP: What goes through your head before you rock a receiver?
PETERS: Timing and where I’m going to hit him at.
BCP: Is recruiting picking up at all?
PETERS: No not at all
BCP: What schools would you like to recruit you?
PETERS: Schools that have good environments, a good atmosphere , where I would fit in and can help me, help them.
