Haines City Hornets

First year head coach, Ron Johnson is taking his bumps and bruises as the head football coach at Haines City High. His offensive line is learning. His defensive line is trying and his skill players are improving. It is a process. One that Johnson took head on.
On the bright side of the blocks that are being built, Coach Johnson has some talent to rally behind. The top dog is none other than our top RB prospect, Dacorius Law. Fast and explosive. Very instinctive player, with the homerun ability.
Law had a difficult time at practice when I watched him during inside run drills because the offensive line was having trouble with blitz pick up. But when he did get loose, you can see all the traits of a good running back prospect. He has such good knee drive and explosiveness, it allows him to get to the second level while line backers are still tangled up with offensive linemen. The players listed below were trying to destroy him.
DEFENSIVE ENDS
Jaderius Baxter – coming off a knee injury, looks as good as new. Showed a burst during one on ones versus the offensive line and good flexibility during bag drills. Strong player with developing pass rush moves. Could project as an outside line backer at the next level.
Fenold Dorismond – Similar to Baxter but with a little more razzle dazzle to him. I loved his energy and confidence. Again, could project as an outside line backer at the next level. Long arms and a good first step. Body that will hold about 30 more pounds and will be a terror in the box.
Both players are division 1 prospects
INTERESTING ON THE INSIDE
Sharrod Mosby, ILB – Mosby is a transfer from Orlando Winter Park. Great size at 6-3/193 lbs but plays raw. Has a good first step/reaction and will force me to find his film to evaluate further.
Kevin Sapp, OLB – Very rangy backer. Just what colleges are looking for these days. He can run, leverage offensive linemen and attack the ball carrier. Stood out in a big way during inside run. Made several plays by just reacting to the flow. Quicker than fast and diagnoses plays well. Good vs run.
Eric Goll, DT – Grabbed the attention of one of the college coaches attending practice. Strong defensive tackle who disrupted every offensive play being ran during inside run. As I watched, I asked the college coach, “Can that defensive tackle play for you?” Simple answer was “Yup!” Good size, quick first step. Fights through blocks and gets to the ball carrier. Plays a little high but can be coached. Versatile along the O-Line. Good Run Blocker. Nasty streak as a run blocker.
THE FUTURE
Demaris Span, ATH – Only time will tell how good this rising junior prospect will be. He is an athlete, but still very young. Can play a number of positions. In the box safety. Good vs run. Very physical.
