PINELLAS COUNTY RECRUITING SPRING CAPSULES

Green Devils run a text book practice

Allen Jones, St. Petersburg 2015 RB

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The blunt honest truth: St. Petersburg High has some dudes. The team is stacked with great looking skill players. Arguably one of the deepest under current head coach, Joe Fabrizio.

The practice yesterday was so well run; very organized, efficient and no wasted time. The Green Devils were deep. I would estimate around 70 plus athletes took the field. What was encouraging, the coaches took every opportunity to slow down, explain drills and take advantage of coaching moments. The kids knew where they were suppose to be and what they were suppose to be doing. A football novice would have been able to figure out what was happening on the field and why because of the set up, flow and communication.

WHAT WE WANT TO FINDOUT
The Green Devils have 4-5 legit receiver threats. Abdul Yatts, Jacquez Ivory, Kevon Woods, Josh Hall and John’Te Edwards make up a group of receivers that will rival any in the area. But how will coach Fabrizo get them the ball? St. Pete has leaned heavy on the wing T for years now and we doubt that a few pretty prospects will pull “Coach Fab” out of it. However, it is not too far fetched that he incorporates the spread offensive element into his productive wing-T offense.

We also would like to see what kind of damage Anthony Foster does in the spring game. Foster is a 6 foot 210 pound rising senior RB who is my pick for sleeper prospect of the year. A big back, great frame, good feet, strong runner and good speed will make him highly attractive mid 2014 season. If he has a big spring game and shows some elusiveness and tackle breaking ability, a bunch of schools will come calling.
