Gibbs displays confidence and dominance

Last night, the Northeast Vikings traveled to Gibbs high for the 2013 Spring Jamboree. Soaked with college prospects and outstanding skill players, the Vikings were confident and excited to hit another color uniform other than their own. The Vikings ran into a battling bunch of Gladiators that pushed back and ultimately forced their will on the competition.

THE BOOM
Northeast started the game with a bang. On the initial kickoff to start the contest, Gibbs kicked a line drive on the ground attempting to keep the ball away from deep returner Keith Harrington and Darius Lacy. Dontario Fowler caroled the pigskin, made a few cuts and ended up in the end zone, pretty much untouched. The Viking sideline erupted and the faithful fans were out of their seats. It seemed like the start of something good for the Vikings.

THE ANSWER
The kickoff return stunned the Gladiators. But, the hometeam answered back with muscle. With a number of solid runs, simple passes and effective play calling, Gibbs marched right down the field ending their first offensive possession with 6 points and a successful 2 point conversion.

GLADIATORS CONTROL
Fowler’s kickoff return proved to be only scoring the Vikings would do until late in the game. Gibbs harassed Viking QB, Ryan Davis all night. He could not get settled and could not find any room to scamper. The Gladiator defensive line controlled the undersized Viking offensive front making it hard for Northeast to gain positive yards. On offense Gibbs was sound. Not every drive ended in a score, but each drive chewed up positive yards and time on the clock. They kept Northeast off balanced with simple, yet effective play calling and timing. Final Gibbs 28 Northeast 13

JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED
Gibbs receiver, Jacquez President went bonkers last night. He couldn’t be covered. Northeast tried a few different options to cover him, but they didn’t work. With starting CB, Chris Jackson sidelined to do eligibility, President caught five passes for 130 yards and a 30 yard TD. President also returned a tipped pass, which he intercepted for a touchdown.

Note: Gibbs QB, Brevet Killett, was 8 for 14 last night with 182 yards and 1 TD pass.
