East Lake squeaks by CCC in OT, 23-20

TARPON SPRINGS —
Friday night’s non-district matchup between East Lake and Clearwater Central Catholic was initially thought by many to be a mismatch of monumental proportions.

The Eagles came into the game ranked #9 in the BHSN Media Poll and possess one of the most potent offenses in the county, led by Division-1 quarterback prospect Pete DiNovo, sophomore wide receiver Artavis Scott, and tailback Tyler Lane.

The Marauders, meanwhile, are auditioning a trio of inexperienced signal callers for the starting spot and were picked by some to finish third in their own district.

To top it all off, the game had to be moved from CCC’s home field to the East Lake campus, because the spate of storms last week left Marauders Field unplayable.

But CCC managed to put all those things aside and gave the Eagles all they could handle and then some, dropping a heartbreaking 23-20 decision when running back Justin Goodloe fumbled the ball through the end zone in overtime for a game-ending touchback.  SEE HERE
