Eagles with plenty of prospects

Off the top of my head

East Lake Offensive Line
East Lake Offensive Line

Jesuit, TBT, Hillsborough, Plant, Brandon and Countryside run some of the most organized/structured practices I have seen. Armwood and Jefferson are the most entertaining, exciting and fun to observe. But East Lake has to be added to that list. I hit the Eagles’ nest with a list of 10 college prospects I wanted to observe. Before I could really zoom in on the kids, my attention shifted towards the practice. Head Football Coach, Bob Hudson runs a great show. East Lake reminds me so much of Plant. Combined with junior varsity, over 100 kids attended practice, 17 coaches, 11 varsity and 3 defensive secondary coaches. The offensive line was impressive; massive and agile. The defensive secondary could become a strength of the team. 2014 ATH, Artavious Scott was working at CB with 2014 Devin Abraham working at safety. Speaking of the defensive secondary, Coach Hudson has 3 NFL guys coaching the secondary. Alan Zemaitis, 2006 4th round selection by the Tampa Bay Bucs; Donnie Abraham who was a key contributor for the Bucs from 1996-2001and Bruce Taylor who was a 1970 1st round selection by the 49ers, two time pro bowler and College Football Hall of Fame inductee.

How many games can East Lake win?
2011 Schedule:
9/2 at Clearwater Central Catholic
9/9 vs. Countryside
9/16 vs. Tarpon Springs
9/23 vs. Trinity Catholic
9/30 at Largo
10/7 vs. North Port
10/14 at Sarasota
10/21 at Sarasota Riverview
10/28 OPEN
11/4 at Palm Harbor University
11/11 vs. Clearwater

Right now it is hard to say. I know nothing about Sarasota, Sarasota Riverview or North Port, but I will take a wild guess. Any number between 7 and 10, more like 8 or 9. Tarpon and Countryside will be tough. Tarpon is a rivalry, neighborhood game so that could go either way. I like East Lake right now over Countryside for the fact that Countryside is missing some playmakers on defense from last season and East Lake has some weapons on offense. Largo has plenty of speed, but I think the Eagles wear down the Packers late in the game.

Big Time
Mason Cole, 2014, OT
6-4/260lbs…just a thing of beauty. Cole has great feet for a big man and very long arms. Perfect frame for a college offensive tackle. He has 3 years to get stronger in the upper body and tone up the lower, but he is a big time BCS prospect.

Stephen Buric, 2012, TE
Buric made the BCP staff look like geniuses. We ranked Buric as the #2 TE in our coverage area because he is a traditional TE who can block and run great intermediate routes. Even coming off a minor injury, I watched him catch a few balls in traffic, showed some good speed and soft hands

Dillon DeBoer, 2012, DE
The jury is out on this kid, but if he plays with the tenacity his coaches think he has, the Eagle defensive line just got a lot better and bigger. DeBoer is 6-6/240lbs, but has been a basketball kid that the coaches are expecting great things from. He has good feet, but may end up growing into an offensive tackle or defensive tackle prospect.

Jumped out at me
Shane Fagin, 2013, OG/C
Big Butt and thighs…just how I like ‘em. Maybe that didn’t come out right, but that is just what you look for in an offensive lineman. Fagin has a very strong lower body. He plays with great knee bend and pad level. I was surprised with his footwork; good enough feet and fast hands. He may grow, but he is a solid interior offensive lineman prospect.
