RECRUITING RECRUITING FEATURES

E7 Warner: Corners to eye

E7 Warner is right around the corner. On Saturday, 180 athletes will take the field at Warner University, ready to get worked, coached and pushed to a new level. Today we are going to examine a few cornerbacks that will compete, attempting to earn a spot at the Summer Executive Invite Only Showcase.

Aaron Cox, 2015 Freedom
Cox has grown since the beginning of the 2013 football season. His play was pretty good without multiple years of experience and his skill was much improved. Cox needs this weekend to propel his recruiting rating. From what we have seen already, Cox can play either CB or Safety and his 1 on 1 session will be highly important to make him more marketable as a defensive back.

Corey Hicks 2015 Lennard
Lennard has more athletes than you would think. Corey Hicks is one of them that will hopefully surprise us all at E7. This stage will be perfect for him to prove that he can cover downfield and makes plays on the ball on the perimeter. His film displays a good line of scrimmage CB who likes to tackle and be involved in the run defense. However, it does not show many plays versus that pass. We will find out how fluid, aggressive and fast Hicks is this weekend.

Darion Staten, 2015 Lake Wales
This young man is one of the best around. He just does not have the big name. But just wait. He currently holds a few division 1 offers and will get some big time verbal offers in the next few months. He is fast, swift, agile, nimble and athletic with great instincts. We want to see him in as much man to man as possible and check out his footwork in drill work.

Jarrod Kelley 2016 Winter Haven

James Martin 2015 Chamberlain
Not the biggest, but interesting. Martin runs really well and plays the ball well. Has experience playing on the offensive side of the ball. We have seen Martin up close a few times and each time he makes us scratch our heads (in a good way). Is he tall enough? Is he fast enough? Can he make plays? We shall see!

Jarrod Kelley 2016 Winter Haven
Kelly is one of the most underrated defensive backs in the area. His film is pretty darn good and he performed well at the BHSN 2014 Ignite Showcase in January. We really want to see Kelley progress as a cover corner. Put back-to-back good plays together and limit the receivers he will cover at E7 Warner.

Saivion Smith 2016 Lakewood
Well…This is the stage tailor made for Smith. Not too big, not too small…Just Right! Smith has such an upside; it could get ugly his senior year. This player is long, athletic and able to play multiple positions. At this point, it is not even necessary to label him at a specific position because he may develop into something else. The whole Training Camp will be big for Smith in regards to his BCP promotion.
