If you ask the Strawberry Crest faithful about the game versus Hillsborough High on Friday night, many would express excitement and call it a “Big Game.” The Hillsborough Terriers on the other hand would treat it as business as usual, as it’s a Big Game for another reason.
The Terriers will enter Friday’s game as the favorite, but will not be looking past the Chargers because this is a district game. Strawberry Crest knows the importance of the district contest, but have a new confidence as the team has been winning and their single loss came down to the final minutes.
To say the Strawberry Crest Chargers are excited for the opportunity to defeated one of the district favorites and county powers, would be an understatement. The Chargers believe they can win, but the Terriers believe just the opposite.
Since 2002, Hillsborough has been very successful. Only losing 32 times in 11 seasons. That is pretty impressive. What is even more impressive, of those 32 loses, only 12 teams have defeated The Terriers. In 11 seasons, only 8 Hillsborough County teams have claimed victory over the Big Red. Will the Chargers be number 9?
Strawberry Crest will enter Friday’s district game at 2-1. Hillsborough, 2-0. No easy task for either team. Something to prove for both.
