Cain manages a TBT victory

Behind the efforts of sophomore QB, Deon Cain, Tampa Bay Tech Titans showed spectators what’s to come in 2012. TBT defeated Jefferson 27-7 in one half of football at Armwood High school. The Titans started off a little shaky. Undisciplined penalties, mishandled snaps and a few plays for negative yards hampered some TBT offensive possessions.

Deon Cain settled down, had some help from Richard Benjamin and Deon Thompson, TBT offensive staff started to take advantage of the up field Dragon style of defense and the Titans began to roll.

On the ground Deon Thompson and Richard Benjamin did all the dirty work. Thompson finished with 4 carries for 26 yards, 1 rec for 8 yards and a rushing TD. Benjamin was a handful. On back-to-back carries, Benjamin rushed for an 18 yard blast, followed by a 13 yards scamper. Finishing the game with 34 rushing yards, 31 receiving yards and 1 rushing TD on 6 total touches.

Cain was the manager. As a first year starter and just a sophomore, he did a tremendous job managing the offense. Stats: 7/10, 121 yards. Slot receiver, Donzell Polite had 2 catches for 52 yards. TBT finished the game with 104 yards on the ground and 225 total offensive yards

LB Fred Russ was like the color green. He was all over the field. Wherever the ball was, Russ was. He also recovered a fumble in the end zone for a TBT defensive score.

Tyjee Fullwood started the game at corner for TBT. Then enter the game at QB and rushed for 34 yards on back-to-back carries and 1 TD.

Jefferson never really got going. Deiondre Porter and Tyler Smalls were not in sync with the receivers. The Titan defensive line was in the Jefferson backfield every other play. The Dragons had just 22 total rushing yards and 59 yards through the air.

Jonathan Moore was the one bright spot for Jefferson…had two receptions for 61 yards and 1 TD.
