CHANGE
Fast, fast and faster. Head Coach Reggie Roberts has implemented a fast break practice where everything from drills, breaks, transition and entering/exiting the practice field is done at a fast pace. Reminded me of the UPS logistics commercial featuring former Oregon head football coach and current Philadelphia Eagles head coach, Chip Kelly using speed as commonality of how Oregon’s offense functions and UPS delivers.
The kids are still adjusting to the change, however it was fun to watch the players respond in the way they did. The leaders knew what was expected and the others followed. Coach Roberts was very entrenched in every aspect of his practice. Having to pick up some slack for absent coaches due to professional reasons, he was very energetic and engaging with his players.

UNDER RECRUITED
Devin Brockington, 2014 ATH is a sleeper if there ever was one. My first time seeing him in person, I loved his build. Looks like he works in the weight room and takes his conditioning seriously. If you have ever seen him on film, you should have come away with a player who has good speed and can break. Tackles well and plays run support. During practice he showed the shiftiness that had him ranked as one of our top players. His speed was evident as he ran hard as if he had a point to prove. His ability is right along with Janarion Grant from Pasco last year. About an inch shorter, but just as explosive.
Admittedly, Brockington says he was concerned about his recruitment, “Well I was a little concerned about the recruiting process but not as much because I feel like I performed to the best of my abilities and I’m just waiting patiently on my first offer which sometimes can be tough. But, I just try not to focus on that and just go with the flow. Some college coaches say I’m a player that can play anywhere on the field just because I play many positions. But, most coaches like me at safety because of my ball skills and instincts.”
WHAT ELSE?
Jordan Roberts, 6-2 WR/CB – grabbing some attention for the Florida Gators amongst others says Coach Roberts, Jordan is very long with good speed. Cleanly catches the ball and makes plays in several different ways. Also plays well on the defensive side of the ball at corner and free safety.
Jaylen Pickett, 6-0 ATH – Interesting prospect. Great size and athletic ability. Can play several different positions. Runs well and showed some good leadership qualities.
Loren Parker, 5-10 LB/FB – Whoa! Jumped out like a sore thumb. Runs like a safety and brings the pain on contact. One to watch!
