PASCO COUNTY SPRING CAPSULES

Pasco Pirates have an impressive 6-5 duo

Short and sweet, but Pasco’s set of defensive ends look as good as any around. After an extended stay at Zephyrhills, I headed through the scenic countryside roughly about 8 and a half miles to Pasco High. I knew I couldn’t stay long so I had to grasp as much as I could in a short period of time.

I said “What’s up” to Nate Craig-Meyers, as we know each other very well from various football events. BOOM!!! Then THEY hit me. A pair of 6 foot 5 inch defensive ends (outside line backers in a 50 front) that stood out like a Knicks fan in Miami.

Rising senior RJ Scaife and rising junior Bowman Archibald both looked great in pads. Scaife was a BHSN/BCP Ignite standout, so I knew him and both competed with the Pirates at Bull in the Ring mid April. RJ stands 6-5/250 lbs and played the run very well. He will play both sides of the ball this year at offensive tackle and DE/OLB, along with some TE.

Archibald looks like he loves the weight room and is currently 6-5/210 lbs. Put together like a sophomore collegiate football player with tremendous upside. I loved the way he played with his hands and neutralized the offensive tackles. Has a great take off from a two point stance and also played some middle line backer. Very good athlete.

I anticipate Malik Johns to take on a role similar to Janarion Grant last year. Play multiple positions in order to get the ball in his hands in as many ways as possible and free up Nate Craig-Meyers. Johns and Craig-Meyers are a great compliment.
