Blake looking good in the grind of spring

BCP attended Blake High School yesterday for one of their many off-season workouts. The Jackets were not at full strength as several players were participating in baseball and track. However, the ones who were on the field, worked theor butts off. Here are a few player observations:

Corey Bennett, 2015 RB – Faster than originally expected. Shifty and agile with great hands. Caught the ball extremely well.

Isaiah Rogers, 2016 WR/CB – Stands about 5-8 right now. Very elusive and quick. Has a great feel for the game and understanding of spacing. Runs great routes and uses his size to his advantage.

Julian Jackson, 2015 LB – Showed good footwork during agility drills. 7 on 7 day for the Jackets so Jackson worked his pass drops and even man-to-man skills. Did a good job in pass coverage, even got his hands on a few balls.

Shavar Manuel, 2016 DE/TE – Not much from the big man due to being a 7 on 7 day. Worked his butt off during agility stations and lined up at TE during 7 on 7. Lower body looked stronger and he is working to get slightly leaner.

Juwan Burgess, 2017 WR/DB – Raw athlete. Does so many things off talent and athleticism alone. Looks to love playing offense but will likely transition into a highly attractive college defensive back.

Charles Isaac, 2015 WR/DB – 6-3 basketball player, first time out with the Jackets on the football field. The hooper stood out like a sore thumb (in a good way). Showed good speed and hands. If the coaching stay can polish Charles off quickly, he could have a big summer.
