Berkeley Prep 2015 QB, Brad Mayes received his first verbal offer from UMASS today his father reports the BCP. Mayes has the intangibles to be a highly-sought after prospect in the 2015 class. His doctors project him to grow to at least 6-feet 4-inches tall.

Mayes is a product of John Kaleo’s QB Academy (assisted by Chip Bennett) and has taken the 2012 season by storm. In his first year as a starting QB, Mayes is 41/79, completing .519 % of his passes for 763 yards 7TDs, and just 2 INTs. Oh yea, he can also run a little bit. The reason why he is ranked as our 9th best dual threat QB (22 carries, 184 yards and 4 rushing TDs).

The freshman has started his recruiting process early. He is a two time BHSN/BCP Ignite Showcase participant which his father says was a huge help in starting Brad’s recruiting process.

“There is lots of good competition so it makes me work harder,” Mayes said of what he enjoys about competing in combines. “I always try to beat my previous times. It also shows you what to expect for the upcoming years so I know how to practice for them.”

We think Mayes will be a GOOD ONE. Right now, Berkeley Prep is 6-0 and headed into a district clash with Clearwater Central Catholic. Mayes will need to be at his best to keep the Bucs hopes for a district championship alive.
