Plant WR Austin Roberts was offered by the University of Iowa he said in a text message this morning. Iowa is the first school to offer the 6-foot 2-inch sophomore.

“It feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” Roberts said of picking up his first offer. “I’m literally holding back tears of joy.”

Roberts, who is one of the top WR in Tampa Bay, reeled in 14 receptions for 280 yards as a sophomore. He was a key factor in the Panther’s 8A state championship game in which they defeated Miramar 31-20.

Plant will have a void to fill in 2012 as Roberts is set to enroll at Carmel High School in Carmel, Ind.
