Amari Overcoming the Pitt Fall…Looking At A Big Senior Year

Bradenton, Mar. 2, 2018 – The Braden River Pirates had an overall record of 10-2 and finished 4-1 in districts, putting them at 38th in the state of Florida. They accomplished this feat with depth in the secondary, instilling trust and discipline in one of their star defenders, 6 foot 170-pound corner back, Amari Pitts.

A raw position to him going into his sophomore season, after a set-back from breaking his leg in his first varsity game freshmen year. Now, he’s entering his senior season with a new mindset.

“I’m preparing for this upcoming season with the help of Coach Preston [DB Training] on Saturday’s perfecting my footwork and zone coverages, and Monday-Thursday high school team practice,” Amari explained.

“The game slowed down for me, becoming easier as I had more confidence in my abilities.” Amari dedicated his time and sweat to his job on the football field, concluding his junior year with 31 total tackles, 24 solo, averaging 2.8 tackles per game, adding to the list with a 20-yard interception and 7 pass deflections.

Pitts’ says his motivation derives from his hopes of college, and is thankful for his coach and parent’s support. “Defensive back was new for him sophomore year, but he’s a fast learner and as time went on he became more focused, picking up schemes and his assignments quickly,” Pitts’ father stated.

“My mind-set for my senior season is getting stronger and trying to win a championship.”

Nothing but grit and heart from star corner Amari Pitts, getting the job done for his team when called upon, and you better believe he’s got his eyes on the prize in his final season.
