WINTER HAVEN CROWNED THE BIGGEST BULL

WINTER HAVE WINS 2018 BCP BULL IN THE RING

TAMPA, MARCH 5, 2018 – The annual Big County Preps Bull In The Ring Lineman Challenge took place this past Sunday at Larry Sanders Sports Complex. First timer…Winter Haven took home the championship trophy when all calculations were final. The Blue Devils edged out Boon Orange by 88 points to take first place honors.

Winter Have (1418 points)
The Blue Devils captured the crown with a fast start and consistent climb. The team of six placed towards the top of all their selected individual events which ultimately earned them the second place spot headed into the Tug-of-War. The Blue Devils earned a bunch of points with a final four birth in Tug-of-War and fourth place finish in the 30 yard 5-man sled push with a time of 7.39. The Devils made a big splash in Individual events and continued to earn points along way with top four finishes in both team events.

Boone Orange (1330 points)
Boone has been a top three finisher the last three years. The Orange team won the individually events with 900 points. That’s the way previous champions have won this event. East Lake mastered it. Boone also had the third best sled push (7.15 seconds). Tug-of-War is what hurt Boone. An early exist made them vulnerable to the those behind them. Boone fell to second headed into the sled push, behind by 98 points. Even though The Orange finished ahead of Winter Haven in the sled push, the points acquired overall were not enough to gain back the top spot.

Largo Blue (1281 points)
Pack Nation made a mean push. Won the Tug-of-War winning six battles along the way and taking down the district foe Clearwater Red in an epic match during the championship round. Then the Pack clocked a 6.24 in the 5-man, 30 yard sled push. So you say, how did they not win overall? At the conclusion of the individual events, Largo was in 16th place (681 points). Note, Boone finished the individual events with 900 (top spot). The hole ended up being just too deep to dig out of. A third place overall finish isn’t too shabby when the start was rougher than expected.

East Lake 1 (1233 points)
The Eagles have grown accustomed to winning this event. Actually three-peated as champions. A very good day for East Lake actually. Finished in the top 6 in all events. 5th overall in the individual events where they usually finish at the top. Keep it in perspective, 35 teams competed.

Clearwater Red (1191 points)
Surprising 5th place finish? Not so much. Clearwater has moved up each year competing at Bull In The Ring and this year looked a little different. Kids were a little stronger, a little faster and a hungrier. 4th place individual event finish and second place in the Tug-of-War. A better sled push would have been a cause for concern for Winter Haven but the Red team placed 11th in that event. Great day for the Tornados.
