Armwood ended their 2014 regular season a perfect 10-0. Even more impressive, the Hawks recorded their 7th shutout of the season while allowing just 23 points during that span. Tonight the Hawks traveled to Strawberry Crest for what has been deemed, “The War on I-4.”

Armwood’s defense set the tone from the start with a relentless rush forcing Crest QB Tristan Hyde to run for his life. Crest went three and out on their first possession. Armwood started slightly slow on offense but struck first on 3rd and 12 inside the red zone. Noah Johnson hit Caylan Holloway. (Armwood 7 SC 0) 1Q 8:46.

Strawberry Crest went backwards with multiple penalties and the only positive yards seemed to come from Armwood penalties. backed up with the punter’s heels on the back line a high snap on a 4th down punt attempt equaled a safety (Armwood 9 SC 0) 1Q 6:48.

Following the safety, Noah Johnson threw his second TD of the night. This time a 15 yarder to Cordell Pimenta. (Armwood 16 SC 0) 1Q 4:46

Aaron Covington had a big night in the return game. First a 65 yard punt return for a TD called back and another 45 yarder for a TD called back. QB Noah Johnson had his back after the first return was called back throwing his 3rd TD of the 1st quarter. Holloway again on the reception. (Armwood 23 SC 0) 1Q 1:23

Noah Johnson ended his night with four TD passes is 15 minutes of play. Darrian McNeal took over QB duties after the first Hawk possession in the second half and added to the scoring with a nifty rushing TD extending the Hawks lead to 39-0. Final score Armwood 42 Strawberry Crest 0.

Armwood will host Largo for the first round of the playoffs next Friday night. Strawberry Crest finishes their 2014 season 1-9.
