Cortavious Givens: Not forgotten

Before the season ending injury midway through his sophomore season, Admiral Farragut RB, Cortavious Givens was on pace to have a career season. Then the knee injury. Givens rehabbed and came back to play his junior season, not at 100 percent. Played sparingly at running back and the bulk of the game at line backer.

He was not at full strength to make the sudden change of direction or quick burst.  This is what he looked like right before the injury. Following his eye popping freshman year, this is why we were so excited about his return.

He currently holds verbal offers from UMASS and Virginia.  Speaking with Cortavious, he is nearing full strength each day. He is getting stronger, faster and mentally preparing to trust his knee again. “Work out sessions are long and hard. 500 lbs plus  squatting off a knee injury, that’s pretty good for me cause I always hated doing legs. 315 lbs plus on the bench press” says Givens.

He is working back to elite shape. Measuring 5-11/219 lbs, he looks like a full grown man. In our current ranking, we ranked him as our 33rd top college prospect. With his size and ability (prior to the injury), he is a stud. We are anticipating him returning this season to prove us wrong. Prove to us that he is better than 33rd. He would like to play RB on the college level. However, “I’m willing to play whatever the team needs me at the most”.

We think Givens will return to the level he once was; if not better.  He is big, strong, fast and agile. A down hill, between the tackles, hard nose running back. “What makes me a special player is I’m not all about me. When I step on the field, I’m there to help and fight for the person next to me and help make them a better player, and I’m willing to learn things, everything, anything to make me the best at what I do”.

Before all it is all said and done, “I want to bring that State Championship back to the 727 (Pinellas County). Forget all the individual accomplishments”.
