Big day for the big skill positions starting with Larry Hodges, Jesuit 2019. Hard to say any other athlete on that field has a better set of hands. Joe Hodge and Ahmerean Brown may have something to say about that. However, Larry worked at will. Rarely defended by defensive backs and had his way with the linebackers. On his heels all afternoon was Marvin Harris, Spoto 2018. Almost a clone of Hodges. Soft hands, good route runner and potential to get really strong. One of those athletes a college coach could place at several different positions. A good performance from UCF commit Justin McGriff, Jefferson 2018. Played at his height (6-5), “above the rim” showed his ability to climb the ladder for the tough passes. MVP Austin Eldridge, Plant City 2018 was crisp and consistent from individual drill work into competitive drills.
Another camp, another eye opening showing out of Jaden Gonzalez, Melbourne Central Catholic 2019. We knew about his ability to disengage from blockers. However, he showed his ability to pass drop and cloudy passing windows for quarterbacks. Ashton Mincey, Plant City 2019 was a silent disaster for offensive players at Xecutives. Showed this spin move during pass rush drills which gave the running backs problems. MVP Landon Moody, Bloomingdale 2019 goes hard from the start to finish. Attitude player who plays and performs with emotion. Sound in his technique and extremely coachable.
So much to like about Rafael Smith, Sebring 2018. Start with his quickness, lateral movement and quickness. Then move to his willingness to pass block and ability to be a receiving treat. Jaquell Narine, Strawberry Crest 2021 is fun to watch. In pads this kid might be a problem. Extremely shifty and quick. Davonte Williams, East Bay 2018 has grown into a force. Role player last season. Ready to carry the load this season. Passionate and physical.
