2013 Runningbacks Take Center Stage

The 2013 class is extremely deep in Tampa Bay and quite possibly the most competitive position has been one of the lesser recruited positions. They are the bruisers; the speedsters; the warriors. They are the running backs.

All of these players listed below are very talented and all possess the ability to play at the next level. While some may question their size, the other intangibles (leadership, heart, work ethic) are all evident.

Xavier Johnson Chamberlain 5-10 175

Although on a 2-9 team Johnson shined bright. He finished with 231 carries for 1736 yards and hauled in 14 catches for 168 yards and 2 TDs, both led the Chamberlain squad. Johnson also gained 169 yards as a kick returner and totaled 18 touchdowns, by far the most on the team. Chamberlain’s second-leading scorer only found the end zone 3 times.

The junior ran the ball more than anyone else in the county, 231 times, to prove his durability. He did not lose a fumble all year. Johnson averaged 10 points per game on a team that averaged just over 20 points per game.
