Devin Harris is Jesuit’s 6-3/1905lbs point guard who has developed into more than just a facilitator, but a scorer. In September, Harris attended the Bright House Sports Network/BCP and Bay Area Hoops Breakdown Basketball Showcase where he was named one of 7 MVPs. He showed aggressiveness, ball handling and athleticism. “One thing that really made it [Breakdown Showcase] stand out was the individual workout sessions in groups compared to others just scrimmaging the whole time,” said MVP Harris.

This season Jesuit is 12-1. Only loss coming to the hands of JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, CA) at Father George National Jesuit Classic, Md. Harris is leading the team in scoring with nearly 16 points per game. Second in rebonds per game (5.5) and third in assist per games (2.6). Currently, Harris is receiving attention from East Tennessee State, Drexel, George Washington, Coastal Carolina and Wofford. No offers to date.

He plans on taking visits after the season. Has not narrowed down which schools just yet. He has been a member of the Tampa Bay Warriors AAU organization for 7 years. This year coached by Eric Harris.

BCP asked Devin who he thought the best player this season was, other than himself. He responded with “Travis Johnson (Jesuit 2013 F). Makes big plays when we need them”. Johnson is the second leading scorer for the Tigers and is not too shabby on the football field either (BCP Top 10 player).

Each player has someone who they look up to and possibly mimic. Devin said he really looks up to his father who has been a big influence, “Taught me to go through life being positive and don’t hold back and do the best you can in everything”. Just as Father Harris has been tough on his son, Devin has been tough on himself. He admits there is much room for improvement and continually works on his perimeter shooting game to make him an even better all around point guard.

Friday night, Harris and his Tigers will host city rival, Tampa Catholic. Game is schedule to start at 7:30pm and is the first of two meetings between two of Tampa’s premier basketball programs.
