Eagles Success Leaves a Trail of Athletes. Bowers Next?

East Lake started varsity football in 1987…fighting mediocracy annually. Times have changed. Substitute mediocracy with “stellar.” From 1987 to 2002 The Eagle program completed just one season with nine wins. In the last six seasons, East Lake has produced five 9+ win seasons. Three of which were double digit wins seasons.

Much of the Eagle success and rise to the top of Pinellas County can be attributed to current head football coach, Bob Hudson. Since taking over the program in 2003 Hudson has eleven winning seasons, eleven playoff appearances, six district titles and two regional titles.

The success on field for the Eagles has been highlighted by the production of the players and direction of the coaching staff. The Big Blue has produces some notable athletes: Pete Dinovo (UCF), Mason Cole (Michigan), Artavis Scott (San Diego Chargers), George Campbell (FSU), Tyler Higbee (Los Angeles Rams). Up next could be cornerback Joshua Bowers.

After suffering a season ending injury in the early weeks of the 2016 season, Bowers is back and ready to make his presence felt.

Under the surface, Pinellas County football fans have been whispering about Bowers possibly being the best corner in Pinellas County. The debate is a good one with St. Petersburg High Anthony Johnson Jr. the other name involved. The competition is there and defensive backs love a challenge. It comes with the position.
