Mr. Atterbury took the time for q brief question and answer period. Here is what we asked and how he respond:

BCP: What offers and interest do you currently have from colleges?
BA: offers from Cincinnati and FIU. Interest from Indiana, Clemson, Miami and Iowa state.

BCP: What are your summer team and personal goals?
BA: As a team we would like to become more fluent as a group and working together as well as introducing our incoming freshman and transfers. Me personally, my goals are to become a stronger, more physical player until the whistle blows. Also I’m working on my first few steps in the run game trying to work on head and hand placement.

BCP: What do you feel was your weakness last season?
BA: Definitely my run game. I was going mostly for the angle block to beat some of my bigger opponents but this year I’m working to be able to match up against anyone and drive them straight down the field.

BCP: What have you done to make that weakness a strength? BA: Working hard in the weight room to get stronger as well as some drills with my offensive line coach to improve my first steps, so I can be more fundamentally sound.

BCP: Have you camped or visited any college campuses this summer so far?
BA: I went to FIU’s 1 day camp, FSU’s 1 day Jimbo Fisher Lineman camp, and Football University’s 3 day camp at Fort Walton Beach, Pensacola. I also attended Miami’s 2 day camp this past weekend. I was invited to go to FBU’s Top Gun camp in Ohio later next month.

BCP: Being a young prospect, what do you want to learn about the recruiting process?
BA: There were scouts at my school during spring practice looking at Justus Reed and going up against him is how I would get noticed and at the end of practice some days my coach would pull me aside saying that this school might look interested in me. Why is it that I can’t talk to the scouts that much if they have a possible interest in me?

—Answer: NCAA Rules prevents direct contact from college coaches to potential prospects during a certain time of the year and when a prospect is in a specific grade level. SEE HERE

BCP: Outside of football, what is the MOST interesting thing the public does not know about you?
BA: I enjoy playing paintball as a hobby. I started a few years ago and it’s really fun… That is if your good, otherwise it just hurts.

“I want to play college football under the lights. Like any other kid, you have hopes and dreams and until high school, that’s just what they were. But now, hopefully there is a possibility.” – Billy Atterbury
