Victory Student Church to Host 2nd Annual Dunk Contest
Top High School players return to compete in the event’s second year.
Lakeland, FL: On Wednesday, March 18, Victory Student Church (VSC) will be hosting their second annual dunk contest. After success in last year’s contest, which was attended by over 400 people and featured elite players Dwayne Bacon and Corey Sanders, Victory has announced they are bringing the contest back for a second year.
This year’s event will again feature McDonald’s All-American and Naismith Award nominee Dwayne Bacon, as well as last year’s Champion and Rutgers Commit Corey Sanders along with Jacoby Joyner (Victory Christian), Rosemond Alexis (Auburndale), James Robinson (Lakeland), Torian Hampton (Lakeland)
, and 2 others yet to be announced. Victory has long been a part of the Lakeland community and sees the contest as another way to provide a safe and entertaining event for high school and middle school students of Lakeland and Polk County.
“After last year’s level of competition and success , we are excited to see what happens this year. We feel like we have an even better line up of dunkers and good momentum from the success of last year. Most importantly we are excited to see the students who come to see these players and show them who we are” Said Victory Student Ministries Pastor Tim Smith.
Victory has expanded the following areas of the contest:
* After last year’s event only being sponsored in house and with help from the Dream Center and FCA, Victory has picked up Under Armour, Chick-fil-a, Southeastern University, Nujak Construction, and Leading Edge Physical Therapy as official sponsors.
* Looking to expand the quality of players in the contest Victory has also enlisted the help of Big County Preps to reach out to high school players to recruit them for the contest.
