With video: TC and CCC finish Friday Night in dramatic fashion

Trajan Herr, WR became the hero last night. Tied at the end of regulation in a hard fought “cross the water” battle, overtime became the deciding factor to determine the winner between the home team, Tampa Catholic and Clearwater Central Catholic.

The Marauders would start on offense from the TC 10 yard line with 4 downs to score. The Tampa Catholic defense tightened and squeezed CCC holding them to a field goal. Marauders took a 10-7 lead needing to hold Tampa Catholic to at least a field goal for a chance to win.

Crusader QB Kyle Ploucher led his team on the field needing points to stay alive in overtime or win the game. ATH TJ Harrell attempted to pound the rock in on first and second down. The Marauders did not budge and held tough with their backs against the wall. On third down, Ploucher would sprint out hard to his right and hit a wide open Trajan Herr in the left corner of the end zone. TC would win 13-10.

IN QUESTION
Backed inside their own Redzone, TC QB Kyle Ploucher was hit attempting to throw the ball. As the ball was in the air after contact, one of the officials blew the play dead. Note: this is a live ball. The ball dropped into the arms of another CCC defender (interception) but the play would not stand as an inadvertent whistle was blown.

During a clock draining 4 minute drive attempt by CCC, moving the ball methodically across midfield, CCC RB Diquan Walker stretched the ball out as it appeared his whole body was on the ground and the ball popped out. TC jumped on the loose ball which was determined to be a fumble.

BIGEST PLAY
As we mentioned in our preview article, Justin Motlow was going to make plays. He may have made the biggest play of the night when he caught a fade in the left corner of the north end zone. The big catch put Tampa Catholic the board tying the contest at 7.
