HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY THE BOX

Where do we go now?

Plant v Armwood react: This just in. James Few is really good and has been getting better every single week which means that it’s status quo for the Panthers. It’s all about the “real” season beginning Week 12. Speaking of which, in a scene straight from “Groundhog Day”, the only team that’s going to beat Armwood this season is??? Armwood. Doubt that I need to say much more about that. Clean up the penalties fellas. Darryl Richardson must have been reading the message board along with the rest of the Seffner contingency. He was obviously not in the email chain that said he was supposed to struggle. The junior appears to be opening up and looking comfortable. Plant’s still #2 without argument though. I believe that it’s been proven now beyond the shadow of a doubt that it takes a perfect game from someone to beat the Hawks.

Plant City v Brandon react: Raiders apparently in a funk. Early candidates for the “C’mon Man!” Award. They have Newsome this week who has a Senior Class that’s never lost to Plant City. Brandon is one of the better stories in the county altogether. Coach Lima has done a phenomenal job with the Eagles again this season.

TBT v Gaither and their impending District Championship: TBT curb stomping Freedom this week 69-0 was like a D1 school using a 1-AA to get the kinks worked out. Gaither has won 5-straight and 6 of 7 after being buried like one of the bones by Raleigh my Golden Retriever in the backyard. Either one of these teams are hot enough to ride this momentum straight through to the 3rd Rd of the playoffs.

From the “Who Knew?” Files: One of these teams will be in the 3rd Rd of the playoffs: Brandon, Plant City, Durant, TBT, or Gaither. Who saw that coming? Plant City was the obvious choice, but quite frankly they’re the team with the most questions surrounding it at the moment. The amount of points given up to East Bay and Brandon is not just concerning, it’s alarming. As in like 5-Alarm all hands on deck alarming. TBT & Gaither at the beginning of season were looking like they were going to struggle as well. Cannot say enough about the jobs those staffs and their players have done to turn those situations around. The sleepers are Durant. I’ve already mentioned Brandon, but the Cougars have athletes to make noise and shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Ladies, don’t bother asking these guys to the movies the 3rd Friday in November. Here are the Hillsborough teams that already know what their plans are for Week 12: Armwood will host Lakewood Ranch, Hillsborough travels to Largo. Jesuit will host Lake Nona, and Robinson will be in Orlando taking on Bishop Moore. We also know that Plant is home 1st Rd. Berkeley Prep must take care of business against Tampa Catholic and they’ll be home 1st Rd.

GAMES OF THE WEEK:

Wharton is trying to keep playoff hopes alive!

It’s a “do-or-die” edition. Although a couple of these could be ugly, they still mean whole bunch.

Wharton at Alonso: Ravens are trying to sew up 2nd place in 8A-6. The Wildcats are feeling themselves after 2-straight wins.

Newsome at Plant City: The Wolves can send the Raiders from on top of the world to the abyss with a win. A Plant City coupled with a Durant and Brandon win means we’ve got ourselves a good old-fashioned shootout on Monday following the end of the regular season.

Gaither at TBT: Duh. This one’s for the 7A-7 Championship. This game has the making of a score that’s likely to mirror that of a 2A-5 game whose teams light up scoreboards more than the Predators and Storm in the AFL.
