Now an ESPN/ABC college game analyst, Coach Davie gives the TOP TEN things he wanted to see in a high school football prospect along with the athletic side.
1. Shows great energy on the field
Stay away from player whose high school coach says “Is a little bit lazy.”
2. Loves football on and off the field
Must enjoying playing and studying it. Enjoys being around coaches and other players.
3. Character
Will be a positive influence on the team.
4. Self-motivated to be a great player
Doesn’t have to be constantly motivated. Is not overly moody.
5. Leave University with degree
Has the desire, motivation and ability to graduate.
6. Help us win football games
Have a role for us and make us a better team.
7. Speed for position
Fastest team will usually win.
8. Coachable
Is open to coaching and will accept criticism.
9. Accountability
History of being a good teammate and has shown the ability to do what is asked for the good of the team.
10. Room to develop
Demonstrates size, speed, and strength potential so that his best football is ahead of him.
