BAY AREA BITES RECRUITING THE BOX

Wharton LB continues to improve

College coaches have flocked to Wharton High School. Twenty nice schools have submitted offers to defensive back Vernon Hargreaves III, but one of his teammates is being overlooked

Rocky Enos is coming off a season in which he led the Wildcats with 118 tackles – 50 tackles more than anyone else on team.

Recruiting has been slow says the 6-foot 2-inch 210 pound linebacker. He’s received letters from USF, Penn and Harvard, but says nothing to this point has been serious interest.

A member of Team Tampa, Enos has been competing daily with the cream of the crop from Tampa.

“It’s been amazing see all the competition, especially during1-on-1s,”Enos says.”I played all10 games at the IMG 7-on-7; it’s a huge honor to play with them. I’m proud of myself, but I’m staying humble.”

His father Mike Enos is a former professional wrestler and weight lifter so Rocky knows a thing or two about working out.

Having wrestled in the American Wrestling Association, World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling Rocky says that the two spend a lot of time in the gym and he has picked up a lot of strength and speed this offseason.

“Three times a week we are working on pass routes, ladder drills,” Rocky says. “I’ve picked up lots of speed.”

He is also focusing on his grades. While playing football at the next level is his ultimate goal, his head has been set on going to college long before a football scholarship became a possibility.

“I want to get my grades as high as possible because you always need a backup plan,” Rocky says.

His family would love for him to stay in Florida so they can attend his games.

“I just want to go play ball anywhere. I just love the game. I especially love hitting.”
